A whole house joinery project including: windows, doors, staircase, kitchen, internal joinery
A barn conversion offers the perfect opportunity to add your own sense of style to a building which is already steeped in years of character. This is exactly what our customers, Emily and Sam, wanted for their 200 year old barn which we have helped them transform into a beautiful family home.
They had a clear vision of the fun and practical space they wanted. Emily says:
'The team were great to work with - really flexible, and went above and beyond to help turn our ideas into a reality.'
A beautiful balance was created through the materials and finishes employed. Oak was the predominant timber and client selected from a limited palette of complimenting shades of blue to bring internal and external joinery together.
All joinery items were manufactured and factory finished in the Oak Country Joinery Workshop in Rugby.
The staircase wanted to have industrial beauty. Oak Country Joinery formed solid oak open riser treads from European Kiln Dried Oak and designed these to sit on a steel spine painted in gloss black. The oak handrail and the gallery provides unity and are supported on black painted spindles.
Sam and Emily wanted handmade traditional doors and ironmongery. Oak Country Joinery manufactured random plank barn doors and ledged doors. All were made from European Kiln Dried Oak and were hung and dressed with black period ironmongery, bringing unity with the feature staircase.
Kitchen and Utility
It is said that the kitchen is the heart of the home. It should not be surprising then that our customers' personality shines through their design choices in their kitchen, which superbly brings 'traditional, functional and practical' together with 'sunny and fun-loving'.
Once a design style and a layout were agreed, all unit carcasses and doors were handmade in our joinery workshop before being factory finished in Teknos opaque coating in our onsite spray shop, colour matched to Farrow and Ball 'Railings'.
Simple yet stylish wardrobes were manufactured and fitted by our joinery team, in a shaker style echoing that used in the kitchen downstairs. This item in Farrow and Ball 'Hague Blue'.
All exterior joinery was specified by our client in Farrow and Ball 'Inchrya Blue' which worked beautifully with the aged brickwork and oak frame elements of the barn.
Casement Windows and Combination Frames
Oak Country Joinery manufactured and supplied high performance traditional flush casement windows with Part Q accreditation, styled to compliment the barn's locale as part of a working farm.
A bespoke Oak Front Entrance, Bi Folding Doors on a Centor Bottom Rolling System, French Doors and a Personnel Door Combination Frame complete the joinery package. All factory finished in Teknos opaque coating, colour matched to Farrow and Ball 'Inchyra Blue'.
The result was a warm and inviting family home that was full of character (both old and new). Our clients love their new home and have been kind enough to recommend our services to friends and family:
'We couldn’t recommend the team highly enough - the transformation is incredible. Superb workmanship, always to the highest quality and great attention to detail. We were particularly impressed with their amazing joinery skills.'
